Coffee Beans:
Zumba Fitness was released on the Wii on November 18, 2010 with a MSRP of $39.99.  It received an “Everyone” rating from the ESRB with “Mild Lyrics” listed as content for parents to be aware of.
Zumba Fitness was developed by Pipeworks Software and published by Majesco.  Zumba Fitness is also available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

How many hours have Wii owners spent getting into shape with the “calorie-burning dance fitness-party” found in Zumba Fitness?  Let’s take a look!

Hours shown are for United States of America Wii owners, not world-wide.

Approx. Number of Players Having Reported Data:
Zumba Fitness has 18,570 Wii owners that have reported data, through the Wii’s Nintendo Channel.

Average & Total Game-Play Hours Reported:
Zumba Fitness has 51,306 Total Hours of game-play reported, with an average of 2 Hours 46 Minutes “Per person”.
Zumba Fitness has an average play-time per session of just over 50 minutes.

Review Score Averages:
Zumba Fitness does not have a “professional” review score average listed on GameRankings.com.  That’s right, the game has zero reported reviews from any of the larger gaming sites, or any sites period, that report their reviews to GameRankings.com.

The game has a 3.5 out of 5 Stars rating on Amazon.com, based on 356 customer reviews.

Filtered Thoughts:
I haven’t played Zumba Fitness, like most of the Wii’s fitness games, but it’s been interesting watching the game on Amazon.com.  The Wii version of the game has been in Amazon.com’s “Top 100” video games for 182 days, and most of those days it has been in the “Top 20”.
Also, for several straight weeks on Amazon.com, the Wii version of Zumba Fitness was sold out.

I had no idea Zumba Fitness, the game, was based off a real-life exercise/workout program.  It was back one Sunday in either December or January, when Mrs. Coffee and I were driving to church that as we were sitting at a red light I noticed a, “Join Zumba Fitness”, advertisement sign on the side of the road.  If you have no idea what type of exercise program the game is trying to deliver, perhaps watching the trailer below will give you a better idea:

From the trailer, I definitely don’t think I’m the target audience for the game, but that hasn’t stopped the game from selling extremely well for Majesco.

As for the data, it took Zumba Fitness 152 days to have its game-play hours debut through the Wii’s Nintendo Channel, from the day it released.  While the amount of time to debut is longer than I expected for the game, considering how well it has sold, I’m glad to know Zumba Fitness has been getting some Wii owners active.

Questions:
Have any of you played Zumba Fitness, and if so, is it an “exercise game” you would recommend to other Wii owners possibly looking at getting into better shape?
Perhaps you haven’t tried Zumba Fitness on the Wii, but you have tried a real-life Zumba Fitness course; is it something you would recommend to people looking to either get into shape or stay in shape?

If any of you are interested in Zumba Fitness, you can see prices for the PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 versions on Amazon.com linked below.
