>Hours in The Conduit

April 21, 2011

>

Coffee Beans:
The Conduit was released on June 23, 2009 as a Wii exclusive.  The game had a lot of coverage/hype leading up to its release, and its developer, HVS, was very active in promoting the game.
I was excited about the game, especially with the idea of fully customizable FPS controls on the Wii.  I reserved the game, and picked it up day one.  I beat the single-player campaign four complete times, accomplished the “achievements” in the game, and I spent more than 100 hours with the game’s online multi-player; but then I traded it off, and then got it back again!

While the game wasn’t perfect, it resulted with a game engine and foundation for HVS to build off of.  It was revealed in March 2010 that HVS was working on a sequel to The Conduit, Conduit 2, which just released yesterday.

How many hours have Wii owners reported playing The Conduit, with 665 days of game-play reported before Conduit 2 released?  Let’s take a look!

Hours shown are for United States of America Wii owners, not world-wide.

Approx. Number of Players Having Reported Data:
The Conduit now has 93,645 Wii owners that have reported game-play hours through the Wii’s Nintendo Channel.

Player Increase Since Last Report:
The game has seen about 9,963 more Wii owners report game-play data since the last data recorded on November 29 last year.

Average & Total Game-Play Hours:
The Conduit now has 2,136,385 Total Hours of game-play reported, an increase of 200,631 Total Hours since the last report.
The average play-time for the game is now 22 Hours 49 Minutes “Per person”.
The average play-time per session is now 1 Hour 49 Minutes.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
The Conduit’s Amazon.com sale rank is currently #6,242, and it is selling for $31.91.
(Sale rank and price recorded around 7:30PM on April 20, 2011)

Review Score Averages:
The Conduit’s “professional” review score average is 72.37%, based on 64 reviews on GameRankings.com.

The game has a 4 out of 5 Stars rating on Amazon.com, based on 107 customer reviews.
The Conduit’s customer review score average is 76.63%, when the customer reviews are converted to a 100% review scale.

(Review score averages recorded around 7:30PM on April 20, 2011)

Filtered Thoughts:
As I mentioned in the “Coffee Beans” section, Conduit 2 was just released for the Wii yesterday.  Due to my New Year’s resolution, I didn’t purchase Conduit 2 yesterday, but I’m definitely interested in playing the game.  Being that I beat The Conduit four times, I’m very interested to see how well the single-player campaign is in Conduit 2.  If you haven’t seen anything on Conduit 2, here’s one of the first trailers released for the game:

As for the data, I think The Conduit’s reported game-play hours would be a lot higher, if it weren’t for the hackers and bugs/glitches that plagued the game’s online multi-player.
I think I have mentioned it before in other posts, but it appears that Amazon.com doesn’t carry the game directly anymore, and it’s only fulfilled by them, or sold directly by third party vendors.  When Amazon.com doesn’t have a game directly listed, that usually means it’s no longer being published/distributed by the publisher anymore.

Questions:
If you played The Conduit and you have made the jump to Conduit 2, have you encountered any online glitches/hacks that were in the original?
If any of you have purchased Conduit 2,  what do you think about the game from what you have played so far?

If anybody is interested in either The Conduit, or Conduit 2, you can see prices for both on Amazon.com linked below:

Getting Destroyed Online & The Conduit’s Game-Play Hours Report

December 4, 2010

Coffee Beans:
We last looked at The Conduit’s game-play data back on September 24.  The Conduit was developed by High-Voltage Software(HVS), and published by Sega.  If you didn’t know, it was announced earlier this year that HVS is working on a sequel for The Conduit, Conduit 2.  HVS and Sega have been releasing more screens, trailers, and information on Conduit 2 since the last report I did on The Conduit; and here’s a trailer showing off some quick game-play footage from Conduit 2.

With 525 days of reported play-time data, how many hours have Wii owners spent playing The Conduit and helping rid Washington D.C. of its alien invasion?  Let’s take a look!

The hours shown above are for the United States of America Wii owners, not world-wide.

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
The Conduit now has 83,682 Wii owners reporting their game-play data, through the Wii’s Nintendo Channel.

Player Increase Since Last Report:
The Conduit has seen an increase of about 5,133 Wii owners reporting game-play data, since the September 24 report.

Average & Total Game-Play Hours Reported:
The Conduit has 1,935,754 Total Hours of game-play reported, an increase of 133,641 reported game-play hours since September 20.
The Conduit’s average play-time “Per person” is 23 Hours 8 Minutes; and its average play-time per session is just over 1 Hour 50 Minutes.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
In the report I posted back on September 24, I stated, “Amazon.com has been out-of-stock of The Conduit, basically every day I have checked, since July.”  The situation is still the same with The Conduit not being sold “new” directly from Amazon.com, but some orders for the game are being “fulfilled by Amazon.com” for third party vendors; with that in mind, here is the Amazon.com sales information currently for The Conduit.
The Conduit’s Amazon.com sale rank is #2,653, and is currently selling for $33.28 from an Amazon.com third party vendor.
(Sale rank & advertised price captured around 8:30PM on 12-3-10)

Review Score Average:
The Conduit’s review score average is 72.37%, based on 64 “professional” reviews on GameRankings.com.  Its review score is the same as it was in September.
(Review score average recorded around 8:30PM on 12-3-10)

Thoughts:
The Conduit was a game I was really excited for, and I purchased it the day it released.  I became annoyed with the game’s online play, mainly due to the glitches, and soon the lack of people playing on my friends’ list; so I traded it off in October 2009.
Well, fast-forward to October 2010, and I ended up getting The Conduit back.  I hopped online and was able to play a few matches without any problems.  Then, one night, I played a fellow reader of the site, GoNintendo.com, and I had a major issue with the game’s online multi-player.
What does, “Getting Destroyed Online” have to do with this post?  Well, the issue I had wasn’t glitching; no, the issue was getting handily destroyed by Wiggymaster.  You can watch the destruction for yourself in the video here:

Destruction aside, I think The Conduit’s reported game-play hours are really good for a third party Wii game; though I think they would be a lot higher than they are now, if the game didn’t have the online glitches/hackers that ruined the online experience for many.
I think HVS probably learned from some of the mistakes that slipped through in The Conduit, and I’m hopeful Conduit 2 will be a great FPS experience Wii owners can experience when it’s released in February 2011.

Questions:
If you own The Conduit, do you find yourself still playing it often?  If you do/don’t own the original, are any of you planning on purchasing Conduit 2 when it releases in February?

The last time I compared the game-play data for The Conduit(TCon), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex(CoD:MWR), and Red Steel 2(RS2) together, was on July 6.
Let’s take a look at the games and see how much they have increased since the July 5 data was captured.

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
The Conduit has 78,549 players reporting their play-time data now.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 91,451 players reporting play-time data.
Red Steel 2 now has 24,932 players reporting their play-time data for the game.

Player Increase Since Last Story:
The Conduit has increased by 7,431 players reporting data, since the data from July 5.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex now has 20,853 more players reporting play-time data.
Red Steel 2 has 9,108 more players reporting their play-time data, than it did on July 5.

Average & “Total” Game-Play Hours Increased/Reported:
The Conduit’s average hours reported per person are now 22 Hours 57 Minutes.  TCon’s current average game-play session, per player, is about 1 Hour 51 Minutes.
The Conduit’s average hours per person, 22 Hours 57 Minutes, have increased by 26 Minutes since the July 5 data.
The Conduit now has 1,802,113 Total Hours reported for game-play, an increase of 201,160 game-play hours since the July 5 Nintendo Channel data.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s average hours reported per person are now 57 Hours 22 Minutes; with the current average game-play session, per player, being about 2 Hours 21 Minutes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s average hours per person, 57 Hours 22 Minutes, have increased by 7 Hours 3 Minutes since July 5.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex now has 5,245,775 Total Hours reported for game-play, an increase of 1,693,551 game-play hours since July 5.

Red Steel 2’s average hours reported per person are now 9 Hours 41 Minutes.  Its average game-play session, per player, is about 1 Hour 53 Minutes.
Red Steel 2’s average hours per person, 9 Hours 41 Minutes, have increased by 24 Minutes since July 5.
Red Steel 2 has 241,336 Total Hours reported for game-play, an increase of 94,571 game-play hours since July 5.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
The Conduit’s Amazon.com sale rank is #3,962, and the current sale price is $25.68.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s Amazon.com sale rank is #352, and its current sale price is $40.54.
Red Steel 2’s Amazon.com sale rank is #465, and the current selling price is $19.93.

Both The Conduit and Red Steel 2 are currently being advertised/sold from third-party vendors on Amazon.com, at the prices listed above.

Thoughts:
Amazon.com has been out-of-stock of The Conduit, basically every day I have checked, since July.  Red Steel 2 seems to be having issues with staying in-stock, directly from Amazon.com also.  I don’t know if the issue is supply from Sega and Ubisoft for the games, or if demand has decreased enough for Amazon.com to request copies less frequently.
Also, I think it is interesting this is the first time since I have compared these games directly, that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has more players reporting play-time data, than The Conduit does.

Questions:
Has anybody picked up Red Steel 2 since it received a price drop back in July?  Also, if anybody owns any of these FPSes, have you found yourself playing any of them recently; or have you moved onto other Wii games right now?
I still have not played either Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex or Red Steel 2, perhaps that will change in the next few months.

>2009 Wii FPS Games Data (7-19-10)

July 24, 2010

>Quick Brew Info:
The play-time data shown below was captured this past Monday, July 19, 2010.
The Amazon.com sale ranks and review score averages were captured July 24, 2010.

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
The Conduit has 72,685 players reporting their play-time data.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 74,946 players reporting play-time data.

Player Increase:
The Conduit has increased by 1,567 more players reporting play-time data, since 2-weeks ago.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex has increased by 4,348 more players reporting their play-time data, since the last report.

Game-Play Hours Reported/Increased:
The Conduit has 1,639,939 Total Hours reported, an increase of 38,986 hours since the July 5 data.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 3,876,863 Total Hours of game-play reported, an increase of 324,639 hours since the last report.

Amazon.com Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
The Conduit’s Amazon.com sale rank is #2,930 and the current new copy price is $33.37.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s Amazon.com sale rank is #258 and the current selling price is $40.54.

Thoughts:
This is the first week that I have reported the play-time data on both of these games, that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has more players reporting play-time data on the Wii’s Nintendo Channel, than The Conduit does.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex now has approximately 2,261 more players reporting data than The Conduit, and has 2,236,924 more game-play hours reported than The Conduit.

As for the Amazon.com sale rank of The Conduit being so low, the game is still currently only available from 3rd Party Vendors on Amazon.com, as I reported back on June 13.
When I contacted Amazon.com about it today, they said to just keep checking the product’s page for any updates, but wouldn’t specify if they are still carrying the game itself.

Questions:
If you own either Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex or The Conduit, are you looking forward to the “sequels” for both games releasing later this year?
I don’t own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex or The Conduit(anymore), but I am interested in both sequels.
I am really interested in Call of Duty: Black Ops, because Treyarch seems to have done the online really well in the two past Call of Duty games on the Wii; while Conduit 2 looks like it should be an improvement over the first in most areas, though I’m approaching it more cautiously.

Questions:
Are you still playing Monster Hunter 3?  If so, and I have not hunted with you online, what times do you normally play?

Thoughts:
When I checked Amazon.com for The Conduit’s sale rank, Amazon.com actually did not have the game in stock, just 3rd Party Vendors on Amazon.com.  I will be watching Amazon.com to see if they get The Conduit back in quickly, or if they do not; perhaps Sega is making a bundle of games for North America, like they released in Australia?
Red Steel 2’s sales ranks have varied greatly since I started tracking them on Amazon.com.  They will range from the 600s, into the 1000s as they were today.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex seems to still be selling well, and had the most game-play hours added and the largest increase in number of players reporting data, since May 17.

Questions:
Has anybody been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex, Red Steel 2, or The Conduit in the last few weeks?  If not, what have you been playing?

While I have not played any of these three games, in the last week I have been playing some more Rage of the Gladiator, and a little of Monster Hunter 3, and Max & the Magic Marker.
