Quick Brew Preview: Greg Hastings Paintball 2 (Wii)

October 1, 2010

Greg Hastings Paintball 2 was released on the Xbox 360 and Wii, this past Tuesday(9-28-10).  The game has a MSRP of just $39.99 on both systems.
This “Quick Brew Preview” is for the Wii version of Greg Hastings Paintball 2(GHP2).

The tutorial is the first option the game gives players, but you can choose to skip the tutorial if you don’t want to go through it.  I would suggest playing through it though, as it will give you a chance to learn what buttons and motion controls do certain actions in the game.
After I played through the tutorial, I selected my team and played a few rounds of single-player Woodsball.  While playing, I used the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls; and I am still learning the controls, as there is a lot of depth to them.
You can lean in-and-out of cover, switch which hand you carry the paintball gun in, even slide and dive(yes, two separate actions) behind cover on the paintball fields.
Greg Hastings Paintball 2 for the Wii, offers five controller options:

  • Wii Remote & Nunchuk
  • Wii Zapper Control
  • Classic Controller
  • Classic Controller Pro
  • GameCube Controller

Thoughts:
I believe Greg Hastings Paintball 2 is the first Wii FPS type game, to offer Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro, and GameCube Controller control options(if anybody can think of another Wii FPS that does, leave a comment).
I thought it was interesting to see what happened when I tried to “wiping off” being hit by a paintball, and how the game discourages cheating.
GHP2 seems to be offering quite a bit of features, and I will be covering more of the game in the next few days/weeks.  If anybody has anything specific you would like to know about the Wii version, leave a comment or send me an email to Scott@CoffeewithGames.com, and I will do my best to answer it.
Question:
Has anybody picked up the Xbox 360 or Wii version of Greg Hastings Paintball 2?  If you purchased the Wii version, definitely send me an email, or leave a comment, so we can try to play some online matches.
