Coffee Shop! Humble Bundle & Wii U Game Deals – 20% off, or more…

September 13, 2013

Coffee Shop
Next Friday, September 20th, the Wii U is scheduled to receive a $50 price drop at retailers. This will be the Wii U’s first official price drop on the Wii U Deluxe Set, bringing its new suggested MSRP to $299.99.

Along with taking a look at some Wii U retail and eShop game deals in this post, I’ll also highlight the current Humble Indie Bundle 9 deal that is taking place. So, if you’re planning on buying the Wii U Deluxe Set at its new MSRP of $299.99 next week (or, perhaps already have it reserved and paid-in-full), or enjoy indie type PC games this might be a Coffee Shop post for you.

Brew yourself some coffee and see if any of the following game deals stand out to you, and if you would recommend any of them to your fellow gamers!

The Brew
First up, the Humble Indie Bundle 9 deal. Right now you can get Trine 2: Complete Story, Mark of the Ninja, Eets Munchies Beta, and Brütal Legend along with the soundtracks for Trine 2 and Brütal Legend for any price you want. You read that right. ANY price.

Now, if you’re not familiar with the Humble Indie Bundle deals, here’s the tagline for most of its indie sales, “Pay what you want. Support charity. Get awesome cross-platform games.”

The idea is to offer gamers great games, but let you choose the price you pay, even giving you the choice of how to split your payment. You can make your payment go 100% to the developers, you can make it go 100% for charity, or you can make your payment go 100% to Humble Bundle Inc. Or, you can do what many do and split your payment across the three options.

If you pay more than $1 for the games, you will not only receive the DRM-free direct downloads, but you will also receive a Steam key for the games as well. Humble Bundle also keeps track of what the “Average purchase” price currently is, and if you pay more than the average price, even by a penny, you usually unlock extra games. For Humble Indie Bundle 9, the extra games for paying more than the average are currently FTL: Faster Than Light and FEZ. What’s the average price right now? $4.60 at the time of this post.

Current Humble Bundle 9 games.

So, right now, for less than $5.00 you CAN get Trine 2: Complete Story, Mark of the Ninja, Eets Munchies Beta, Brütal Legend, FTL: Faster Than Light, and FEZ! Six games, with soundtracks for four of them!

Like many of the last Humble Bundle sales, I will probably end up buying this one at least once, if not twice to give one copy away as a gift here on the site! Based on my time with Trine 2 on the Wii U, I would say that game alone makes this worth buying, and I’m looking forward to eventually trying Mark of the Ninja.

If you want to see what the Humble Bundle is about, you can check it out at HumbleBundle.com, HERE.

For the Wii U deals, first up are five current Amazon.com game deals that are 20% off or more from their list prices:
Call of Duty: Black Ops II for $37.93*, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save over 35%.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for $46.00*, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save over 20%.
Nintendo Land for $38.63, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save over 35%.
New Super Mario Bros. U for $44.31, with free shipping, HERE. You save 26%.
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge for $43.46*, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save over 25%.

*Look under the “More Buying Choices” on the right side of the page, under the “Add to Cart” area if you don’t see Amazon.com listed as the main seller. You can often-times now buy the games from a third-party vendor on Amazon.com for less, and if you have had good experiences doing that continue doing so, but I try to be cautious with higher priced games.

This week, there are currently two Wii U eShop games on sale I would like to highlight, both of them 30% off or more from their normal prices, and both titles that I already own!

Mutant Mudds Deluxe is currently on sale on the Wii U eShop for just $6.99, a 30% savings off its normal $9.99 price. Mutant Mudds Deluxe should be on sale until September 26th, according to its eShop page, which is good for those of you that might not be getting a Wii U until next week!

I can easily recommend the game at this price, especially for those gamers that enjoy the platformer genre. If you missed my post on the game a few months back, here’s a video of Bean 1 playing through the first level of Mutant Mudds Deluxe:

Toki Tori 2+ is the other Wii U eShop game on sale, and if you purchased the game when it originally released a few months back, as Toki Tori 2, your game will update to the newest version (automatically if you have that feature enabled). The game is currently on sale for just $8.99 until next Thursday, September 19th. If you’re wondering, that’s a savings of 40% off its regular list price of $14.99!

If you’re curious as to what is included in this new updated of the game, check out the Toki Tori 2+ Huge Update trailer below:

While I haven’t spent much time with Toki Tori 2 (now 2+) yet, I have enjoyed my short time with the game. Some of the puzzles I have already encountered really made me think, and the natural elements visual style reminds me of my backyard when I don’t mow the grass as often as I should! It has a very nice, clean, crisp graphical style, that has been easy on my eyes. I do like the fact that Two Tribes has continued working to improve the game, based on feedback from players now many months after it released, as the trailer above showed. Hopefully the new update and current sale price will help get the game onto many more Wii U consoles this next week!

Caffeinated Thought
If you have played any of the Wii U games listed, retail or eShop, feel free to leave feedback for them below. For those that might be picking up the new The Wind Waker HD Deluxe Set Bundle, I think that watching the price on Nintendo Land between now and Christmas might be smart, especially if you family and friends to try out the local multiplayer games in it.

Questions
Have any of you played perhaps every game being offered in the Humble Indie Bundle 9, and have feedback on them like my opinion of Trine 2 making it worth picking up?

Coffee Shop! 3DS game deals – save 20%, or more!

September 10, 2013

Coffee Beans
The Nintendo 2DS is releasing next month at a suggested retail price of $129.99, $40 less than the suggested retail price of the regular Nintendo 3DS. It is probably what we will end up getting Bean 1 this holiday season for Christmas, unless there is some other shiny new toy that turns up between now and then.

There are already a few games on my list to get Bean 1 eventually, if not day one, and between now and Christmas I’ll be paying closer attention to 2DS/3DS deals. If you currently own a Nintendo 3DS, or perhaps are planning to grab a Nintendo 2DS this holiday season, below are some current Nintendo 3DS games that are at least 20% off their MSRPs or List Prices.

Brew yourself some coffee and see if there are any games that jump out at you, or perhaps that you would recommend to others!

What Bean 1 might be playing 3DS games on.

The Brew
LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes for $16.87*, HERE. You save over 40%.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for $30.85, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save 23%.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for $29.99, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save 25%.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 for $29.81, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save 25%.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star for $29.34*, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save 26%.
Super Mario 3D Land for $29.65, with FREE Shipping, HERE. You save 26%.
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition for $14.42*, HERE. You save over 50%.

*Look under the “More Buying Choices” to the right of the “In Stock” section and under the “Add to Cart” and “Sell Us Your Item” boxes on the right, to purchase it directly from Amazon.com at the listed price.

Caffeinated Thoughts
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is at the top of the list I have for Bean 1, with New Super Mario Bros. 2 close behind it. Bean 1 demoed Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for about 5 minutes at GameStop many months ago, and he still randomly requests to play the game.

I’m hoping that Nintendo of America and Amazon.com will get their systems situation worked out, and Amazon.com will start carrying Nintendo systems before this holiday season. Amazon does discount other game systems from time-to-time, and I think every penny helps. The $20 or $50 saved in the examples linked above would be enough to pick up an extra game or accessory.

Questions
Have any of you played and really enjoyed Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and think that a younger child would be able to play and beat it?

If you own a 3DS and have played any of the games listed, are there any you would/wouldn’t recommend to new 3DS, or soon to be 2DS, owners?

Coffee Shop! Online Wii U deals – save 20%, or more!

August 30, 2013

Coffee Beans
I told a friend back in June who was interested in the Wii U then, that I thought a price drop would happen for the system pretty soon and I would wait a little while to see what Nintendo would do. So, earlier this week when Nintendo announced the Wii U Deluxe Set is getting a new MSRP of $299.99 starting on September 20th, I was glad to see it happen and immediately told my friend about it.

The Wii was hard to find in many locations for nearly 2 years after it released, and because it was selling like hot coffee on a cold winter’s day, the prices of many first party Wii games rarely dropped below their MSRPs. Even now, some Wii games have their original MSRPs of $49.99.

The Wii U has been struggling with its monthly sales compared to the other consoles, since January of this year. The biggest beneficiaries of this unfortunate situation for Nintendo though, are the consumers. The Wii U hasn’t even been out a year yet, and already many Nintendo published Wii U titles are seeing some significant discounts off their MSRPs.

If you currently own a Wii U, or plan on getting one soon (like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Wii U Deluxe Bundle), hit the jump to see some current Wii U deals on games and gear that are at least 20% off their MRSPs/List Prices!

The Brew
First up, if you own a Wii U and have been interested in grabbing New Super Mario Bros. U, you can currently get it for $44.31 with free shipping, HERE, which is a savings of 26% from its MSRP.

If you are even a little bit interested in Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Wii U, I highly recommend it. The online community is still active, and I don’t have issues finding regular Team Deathmatch battles to hop in. Amazon.com currently has Black Ops II for the Wii U on sale for just $37.96, HERE, with free shipping. Just make sure to check the “More Buying Choices” section on the right side of the page and look for Amazon there, otherwise you will currently be buying the game from a third party vendor on the main page, and the order will be “Fulfilled by Amazon” instead. It is cheaper by nearly $10 that way right now though, if you don’t mind purchasing from a third party vendor.

For Disney fans that might have recently purchased a Wii U, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is on sale from Amazon.com for $25.24 with free shipping.

Fighting fans have two deals to pick from on the Wii U right now:
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U is currently on sale for only $19.77, a 50% discount, HERE! Like Black Ops II, check the “More Buying Choices” to make sure you are getting it directly from Amazon, unless you don’t mind buying it from a third party vendor.
The second fighting game Wii U owners can buy at a discount of more than 20% right now is Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game is currently discounted almost 30% on Amazon.com, HERE, and is selling for $43.23 with free shipping.

Do you enjoy hunting? Have you ever wanted go monster hunting? If so, you might want to check out Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U. I actually own the game, just haven’t opened it yet. It will probably be played for one of the CoffeeWithGames Game Nights in the future, and I’m looking forward to hunting some more monsters. You can currently save just over 20% off Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate’s MSRP of $59.99, HERE.

If you’re not super, super, super cheap like I am, you probably will want to protect your Wii U’s GamePad sooner, rather than later. You can currently get the Blue Wii U GamePad Nerf Armor protective case on sale for just $12.97, which is 35% off its MSRP of $19.99, HERE.

There are currently two Wii U eShop games on sale, both more than 20% off their eShop list prices.

I have played and beaten Trine 2: Director’s Cut on the Wii U, and really enjoyed my time with the game. The game is currently on sale for just $7.99! You read that right, you can purchase Trine 2: Director’s Cut for just $7.99! Trine 2 was an eShop launch title available when the Wii U launched last November, and has an eShop list price of $19.99.

If you are trying to do the math on that one, it’s a savings of about 60% off its eShop list price. Here’s a trailer for Trine 2 on the Wii U, if you’re wondering what the game is like:

Nano Assault Neo is the other Wii U eShop game on sale right now, and you can currently buy it for just $6.99. It has an eShop list price of $9.99 regularly, so it is currently discounted about 30%. I haven’t played Nano Assault Neo, but like Trine 2, it LOOKS very well done on the graphical side.

If you aren’t aware of what Nano Assault Neo looks like, here is the trailer for it from the Wii U eShop:

Questions
While I can easily recommend Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Trine 2: Director’s Cut at their prices, are there any Wii U games you would recommend at their current prices (or, maybe not)?

I have some funds in my Wii U eShop account and am interested in Nano Assault Neo, but I’m not sure I would enjoy the genre, as I haven’t really played the games in it before. If you own Nano Assault Neo on the Wii U, is it a game you recommend to other Wii U owners?

Would you recommend any of these games at their discounted prices, or know of any other game deals happening now that you would recommend?

If so, please leave feedback below!

Coffee Shop! Kirby deals, 50% off used games, and Wii U deals!

April 25, 2013

Coffee Beans
If you didn’t see it, I posted up the official Nintendo Channel data for Kirby’s Adventure, here! While putting that report together, I was looking at Kirby games on Amazon.com, and found a few that were discounted pretty significantly.

I also received an email reminder this morning about a 50% off used video games sale that is still happening, and will be through this Sunday.

If you’re interested in a few Kirby game deals, a 50% off used games sale, and some Wii U game deals, hit the jump to see what the deals are!

The Brew
First up, the Kirby video game deals!

Kirby Mass Attack is on sale for $12.72 directly from Amazon.com, or $11.98 from a vendor fulfilled by Amazon. Both are eligible for Amazon.com’s free shipping for orders over $25, as well as free shipping if you’re an Amazon.com Prime member. The game currently has a customer review score average of 92.50%, based on 88 reviews from Amazon.com.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn, the Wii’s first retail Kirby game, is currently on sale directly from Amazon.com for only $10.00! It is eligible for free shipping on orders over $25, and also if you’re an Amazon.com Prime member. Make sure to check the sidebar on its Amazon.com page, under the “More Buying Choices” to see the option to buy it directly from Amazon. This game’s current customer review score average is 90.45%, based on 264 reviews from Amazon.com. If you’re wondering how many hours you can expect from Kirby’s Epic Yarn, according to the Nintendo Channel data report from 2011, you should expect around 20 hours of game-play. Mrs. Coffee and I played through this one together, and we enjoyed it. With how much Bean 1 is enjoying Kirby’s Adventure, we may end up adding it to our collection!

Yes? No? Maybe so?

What about the save 50% off used video games deal? It’s HERE. GameStop is running the promotion online (assuming the games are available), and in GameStop stores around the country. Now, you may be thinking, “I bet the games are all junk!” Well, I went and fished through some of the games they have, and the following games could all be purchased for less than $5 (each, of course!).

Boom Blox, Cursed Mountain, Dragon Age Origins, Geometry Wars: Galaxies, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, Kinect Adventures, Lair, Prince of Persia: Rival Swords, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Red Steel 2, Resistance 2, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure.

If you have been interested in Red Steel 2, but don’t own it, I think if you can get the game for only $5, it would be a good investment. It would allow you to finally try out the Wii MotionPlus controls you probably have heard so much about, and should give you around 10 hours of game-play.

If you’re a Wii U owner, here are a few Wii U game deals you might be interested in…

Assassins Creed III can be grabbed from Amazon.com right now for just $29.99, which is a 50% savings off its MSRP. I just recently finished the single-player campaign in it, and overall I enjoyed my time with the game. If you’re enjoy completing games 100% before moving to the next, Assassin’s Creed III offers you a lot of game-play, and is easily worth its asking price of $29.99. (It’s also on sale for $29.99 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 right now as well!)

Have you played the world’s #1 dance game brand series? If not, now is a good time to grab the latest in the Just Dance series. Just Dance 4 on the Wii U is currently on sale for just $29.99 from Amazon.com, which is a 40% discount from its Wii U MSRP of $49.99.

We don’t own a 3DS in our house, but I have heard a lot of good about Resident Evil: Revelations for it from user reviews. If you don’t know, Capcom is porting Revelations to the Wii U, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The game currently has a MSRP of $49.99, but you can pre-order the Wii U version of Resident Evil: Revelations for just $39.99 on Amazon.com. A 20% savings on a Wii U game not yet released, isn’t too shabby!

If you have been interested in one the Skylanders games, Amazon.com currently has the Skylanders Giant Starter Kit on sale for just $59.96, which is a 20% discount from its MSRP of $74.99.
I haven’t played the Skylanders games, but I have done two data reports on the first game in the series. The reported game-play hours “Per person” were really good, and I do like the idea behind the game(s) a lot.

While you may enjoy shopping for online game deals at various sites, or even going out to physical retail stores to shop for game deals, let’s not forget about the Wii U eShop deals!
Right now, there are two Wii U eShop games that are discounted, and one I can recommend. from my own time with the game.
The first one is Trine 2: Director’s Cut. Trine 2 is currently on sale for just $9.99, which is a 50% discount from its normal price of $19.99. I own the game on the Wii U, and if you are looking for puzzle-platforming type game, I suggest you download it before the sale ends next week! There is a demo for Trine 2 on the eShop, so you can even give it a try before you buy it. I have played the game more than 40 hours since November, and have really enjoyed my time with the game.
The other Wii U eShop game on sale is Puddle. It’s currently on sale for $7.49, which is about a 6% discount from its normal price. While Trine 2 has a playable demo available for you to try, unfortunately Puddle doesn’t have a playable demo up yet.
If you aren’t familiar with either Puddle or Trine 2, I have included their Wii U eShop trailers below:

Questions
Have any of you played any of these games? If so, feel free to leave a comment and feedback on if you would recommend them at their current asking prices shown above.

Also, if there are any other current game deals you have seen that you think are good, feel free to leave what game and where the deal is in the comments below!

Coffee Shop! Best video game sale(s), this week!?

March 18, 2013

Coffee Beans
If you’re a Wii U owner and planning on grabbing one of the many new games releasing on the system this week, you might want to visit Target.com or your local Target store. If you haven’t seen it already, Target is running a “Buy Two, Get One Free” video game sale, on select games for the Wii U and the other consoles.

As for new Wii U games releasing for the system this week that are included in the sale, there are four from my count:
1) LEGO City: Undercover is available today for the Wii U with a MSRP of $49.99.
2) Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is releasing tomorrow, March 19th, at a MSRP of $59.99.
3) Need for Speed: Most Wanted is also releasing Tuesday, with a MSRP of $59.99 as well.
4) The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will be finding its way to store shelves Tuesday as well, but has a lower MSRP of $49.99 at most retailers, though you can pre-order right now and get it for just $37.49 from Amazon.com as I wrote about last week.

Again, if you want to see the games included just visit this Buy Two, Get One Free on Select Video Games at Target.com link, and see if there are any games available online or perhaps in stores that you might be interested in.

Depending on which Wii U games, or other system(s) games, you are interested in, you could be saving anywhere from $30 to $60 this week, while adding three new games to your collection.

Questions
Are there any other stores running a “Buy Two, Get One Free” video game sale this week, or any video game sale that is as good as, or better than, the one on Target.com and in Target stores this week? If so, please share it in the comments below!

Also, are any of you planning on taking advantage of the Target sale this week? If so, what games are you planning on buying? For us, it depends if I venture out to our Target store tomorrow or not. If/when I do, I may end up with two new Wii U games for our collection: LEGO City: Undercover and perhaps The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (still debating on games though).

Coffee Shop! The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct pre-order deal (PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

March 13, 2013

Coffee Beans
Do you enjoy The Walking Dead TV series? Are you interested in the new The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct game that is scheduled to release next week, on March 19th?

If you have been thinking about purchasing the game when it releases next week, but haven’t pre-ordered it yet, now is a good time to do so. The game is releasing on the PC, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360, and has a MSRP of $49.99. Amazon and GameStop are offering different pre-order bonuses, but Amazon has now discounted the game’s pre-order price by 25%.

You can currently pre-order The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct from Amazon.com for just $37.49. The pre-order price is for the PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 versions, but not the PC version right now.

You can take advantage of the pre-order price right now for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct from Amazon.com, with all the versions linked below (again, the PC version is currently not discounted):

Coffee Shop – Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition for $9.99 (PS3, 360, PC)

November 9, 2012

Coffee Beans
If you have been interested in Fallout 3, but have never bought it, now may be a great time to grab it. The Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC is currently on sale for just $9.99.

The game is eligible for Amazon.com’s “FREE Super Saver Shipping” which applies to orders totaling over $25, and is also eligible for free shipping for Amazon Prime members.

If you have played Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, do you recommend one over the other?

You can purchase the Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition for the PlayStation 3, HERE. The Xbox 360 version, HERE. The PC version, HERE. Or, by clicking on their boxes below:

Coffee Shop – The Last Story for $8 on Amazon.com!

November 4, 2012

Coffee Beans
The title says it all really, The Last Story is currently on sale for only $8.00 on Amazon.com! I just did the debut data report on the game not even 2 weeks ago, which you can read HERE.

For $8.00, if you’re like the average Wii owner that has reported data from the game, you should be able to expect at least around 18 hours of gameplay from The Last Story.

If you have been interested in the game, now is probably the best time to grab it if you wanted it, or are thinking about giving it as a birthday or Christmas gift this year. You can buy it now and just leave it in your collection of games as an incomplete game if you have a big backlog of games, which is not necessarily a bad thing; and if you grab it on sale that means there is more money, for more coffee in your pot!

Grab it while you can, HERE (and below), as I’m guessing this sale won’t last long!
