>Coffee Beans:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex(CoD:MWR) was released on the Nintendo Wii on November 10, 2009 with a MSRP of $49.99.  The game was developed by Treyarch, and published by Activision; it was a port of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 that released in 2007 and was originally developed by Infinity Ward.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex received a “Mature” rating from the ESRB for content such as, “Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language”.

How many hours have Wii owners reported playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex with 448 days of reported game-play?  Let’s take a look!

Hours shown are for the United States of America only, not world-wide.

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 126,863 Wii owners reporting their game-play hours through the Wii’s Nintendo Channel.

Player Increase Since Last Reported:
I last showed the play-time data for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex back in September 2010.  Since that report, Modern Warfare Reflex has seen an increase of about 35,412 more Wii owners reporting data through the Nintendo Channel.

Average & Total Game-Play Hours Reported:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 7,860,108 Total Hours of game-play reported, with an average play-time of 61 Hours 58 Minutes “Per person” reporting data.
CoD:MWR has seen an increase of 2,614,333 Total Hours reported since September, and an increased its average play-time “Per person” by 4 Hours 36 Minutes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s average play-time per session is just over 2 Hours 17 Minutes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s Amazon.com sale rank is #1,467, and its current advertised price is $43.99.
(Sale rank and advertised price recorded around 12:45AM on 2-5-11)

Filtered Thoughts:
First, sorry this was posted up about an hour past my normal “FPS Friday” time, I had issues with the Nintendo Channel not wanting to stream the trailer for the game correctly, so it took me longer than I thought it was to get it downloaded…then uploaded to YouTube.

I remember thinking it was crazy that Activision was getting Treyarch to port a 2 year old game to the Wii, and I really thought it wasn’t going to be received well.  I still haven’t played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex, or any of the “Modern Warfare” games that were originally developed by Infinity Ward for that matter; but I was surprised to see how quickly the game-play data for Modern Warfare Reflex debuted, and then how it steadily increased on a weekly basis after its debut.
If you haven’t seen anything on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex for the Wii, here’s a trailer that has nothing but Wii footage to show you what the game looks like as a port:

I think the game-play data reported clearly shows Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has a very good fan-base on the Wii, and it’s still being played regularly.  The increase of more than 2.5 million game-play hours since just September of last year, is more than most third party FPS games will ever see on the Wii.
I also found it interesting that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has a list price on Amazon.com of $49.99, but is selling for $43.99; while Call of Duty: Black Ops which was just released in November 2010 also has a list price of $49.99, but is currently selling for $39.99.

Questions:
If any of you own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex, do you find yourself still playing it on a regular basis?  Or, did you move on and purchase Black Ops when it was released in November?

The last time I compared the game-play data for The Conduit(TCon), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex(CoD:MWR), and Red Steel 2(RS2) together, was on July 6.
Let’s take a look at the games and see how much they have increased since the July 5 data was captured.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex now has 20,853 more players reporting play-time data.
Red Steel 2 has 9,108 more players reporting their play-time data, than it did on July 5.

Average & “Total” Game-Play Hours Increased/Reported:
The Conduit’s average hours reported per person are now 22 Hours 57 Minutes.  TCon’s current average game-play session, per player, is about 1 Hour 51 Minutes.
The Conduit’s average hours per person, 22 Hours 57 Minutes, have increased by 26 Minutes since the July 5 data.
The Conduit now has 1,802,113 Total Hours reported for game-play, an increase of 201,160 game-play hours since the July 5 Nintendo Channel data.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s average hours reported per person are now 57 Hours 22 Minutes; with the current average game-play session, per player, being about 2 Hours 21 Minutes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s average hours per person, 57 Hours 22 Minutes, have increased by 7 Hours 3 Minutes since July 5.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
The Conduit’s Amazon.com sale rank is #3,962, and the current sale price is $25.68.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s Amazon.com sale rank is #352, and its current sale price is $40.54.
Red Steel 2’s Amazon.com sale rank is #465, and the current selling price is $19.93.

Both The Conduit and Red Steel 2 are currently being advertised/sold from third-party vendors on Amazon.com, at the prices listed above.

Thoughts:
Amazon.com has been out-of-stock of The Conduit, basically every day I have checked, since July.  Red Steel 2 seems to be having issues with staying in-stock, directly from Amazon.com also.  I don’t know if the issue is supply from Sega and Ubisoft for the games, or if demand has decreased enough for Amazon.com to request copies less frequently.
Also, I think it is interesting this is the first time since I have compared these games directly, that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has more players reporting play-time data, than The Conduit does.

Questions:
Has anybody picked up Red Steel 2 since it received a price drop back in July?  Also, if anybody owns any of these FPSes, have you found yourself playing any of them recently; or have you moved onto other Wii games right now?
I still have not played either Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex or Red Steel 2, perhaps that will change in the next few months.

All Call of Duty Games Play-Time Data for Wii

August 16, 2010

Quick Brew Info:
The Call of Duty series, on the Wii, started with the Wii launch and Call of Duty 3.  All of the Call of Duty games on the Wii have been developed by Treyarch, even Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex; which was a port of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

Do Wii owners enjoy the Call of Duty games?  Let’s take a look!

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
Call of Duty 3 has 271,237 players reporting play-time data, since it released in November 2006.
Call of Duty: World at War has 211,013 players reporting play-time data, since the game released in November 2008.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 81,438 players reporting play-time data, since it released in November 2009.

“Total” Game-Play & Average Hours Played Reported:
Call of Duty 3 has 3,598,861 Total Hours reported, with 13 Hours 16 Minutes averaged per person reporting data.  The average play-time per person, per play session, is about 1 Hour 29 minutes.
Call of Duty: World at War has 10,764,662 Total Hours reported, with 51 hours 1 Minute averaged per person/console reporting data.  The average play-time per person, per gaming session, is about 2 Hours 9 minutes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 4,409,356 Total Hours reported, with 54 Hours 8 Minutes averaged per player reporting data.  Its average play-time per gaming session is about 2 Hours 22 minutes.

Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
Call of Duty 3’s Amazon.com sale rank is #1,473, and the current advertised listed price is $69.00.
Call of Duty: World at War’s Amazon.com sale rank is #730, and its selling for $29.26.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s Amazon.com sale rank is #483, and is selling for $40.54.

Review Score Averages:
The image above in the article shows the GameRankings.com review score averages for each game, and the number of “professional” reviews associated with each game.

Here is what each game looks like from Amazon.com customer reviews:

Click picture to enlarge for Amazon.com review scores breakdown

Call of Duty 3 has a 3.5 out of 5 Star rating, based on 71 customer reviews.

Call of Duty World at War has a 4 out of 5 Star rating, based on 90 customer reviews.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has a 4.5 out of 5 Star rating, based on 63 customer reviews.
Thoughts:
I think it’s interesting that Call of Duty 3 has 60,224 more players reporting play-time data, than Call of Duty: World at War.  I really thought Call of Duty: World at War would have more players reporting data, because of its online multi-player.  I guess the two year head-start of Call of Duty 3 is the main reason it’s still leading.
On Friday, I posted the article, “What Is the Most Played FPS Game on the Wii?” I reported that Call of Duty: World at War is currently the most played FPS Wii game, according to “total game-play hours reported, not just the average hours per person/console.”
A reader, WesFX, asked in the comments section of the article, “So does the trophy for most hours played per individual go to a different game?”
While Call of Duty: World at War is the Wii’s most played FPS according to “Total” game-play hours reported; the trophy for most hours played per individual goes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex.  As the data picture shows and I stated above, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has an average of 54 Hours 8 Minutes per player reporting data, about 3 hours higher than Call of Duty: World at War’s average.

I think the play-time data for the Call of Duty Wii games clearly shows Wii owners enjoy the online aspect of the games; especially when considering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex passed Call of Duty 3’s “total hours” reported, only a few months after it released this past November.

Questions:
Have you played any of the Call of Duty Wii games?  If so, are your average hours per game close to what is being reported?

Approx. Number of Players Reporting Data:
The Conduit has 72,685 players reporting their play-time data.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 74,946 players reporting play-time data.

Player Increase:
The Conduit has increased by 1,567 more players reporting play-time data, since 2-weeks ago.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex has increased by 4,348 more players reporting their play-time data, since the last report.

Game-Play Hours Reported/Increased:
The Conduit has 1,639,939 Total Hours reported, an increase of 38,986 hours since the July 5 data.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has 3,876,863 Total Hours of game-play reported, an increase of 324,639 hours since the last report.

Amazon.com Sale Rank & Advertised Price:
The Conduit’s Amazon.com sale rank is #2,930 and the current new copy price is $33.37.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex’s Amazon.com sale rank is #258 and the current selling price is $40.54.

Thoughts:
This is the first week that I have reported the play-time data on both of these games, that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex has more players reporting play-time data on the Wii’s Nintendo Channel, than The Conduit does.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex now has approximately 2,261 more players reporting data than The Conduit, and has 2,236,924 more game-play hours reported than The Conduit.

As for the Amazon.com sale rank of The Conduit being so low, the game is still currently only available from 3rd Party Vendors on Amazon.com, as I reported back on June 13.
When I contacted Amazon.com about it today, they said to just keep checking the product’s page for any updates, but wouldn’t specify if they are still carrying the game itself.

Questions:
If you own either Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex or The Conduit, are you looking forward to the “sequels” for both games releasing later this year?
I don’t own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex or The Conduit(anymore), but I am interested in both sequels.
I am really interested in Call of Duty: Black Ops, because Treyarch seems to have done the online really well in the two past Call of Duty games on the Wii; while Conduit 2 looks like it should be an improvement over the first in most areas, though I’m approaching it more cautiously.

Red Steel‘s review score average is now 81.09%, based on 45 reviews.  It was 81.00% back on May 24, based on 44 reviews.

Thoughts:
When I checked Amazon.com for The Conduit’s sale rank, Amazon.com actually did not have the game in stock, just 3rd Party Vendors on Amazon.com.  I will be watching Amazon.com to see if they get The Conduit back in quickly, or if they do not; perhaps Sega is making a bundle of games for North America, like they released in Australia?
Red Steel 2’s sales ranks have varied greatly since I started tracking them on Amazon.com.  They will range from the 600s, into the 1000s as they were today.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex seems to still be selling well, and had the most game-play hours added and the largest increase in number of players reporting data, since May 17.

Questions:
Has anybody been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex, Red Steel 2, or The Conduit in the last few weeks?  If not, what have you been playing?

While I have not played any of these three games, in the last week I have been playing some more Rage of the Gladiator, and a little of Monster Hunter 3, and Max & the Magic Marker.

The Conduit‘s review score average is 72.23%, based on 64 reviews.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex‘s review score average is now 78.50%, based on 34 reviews.  It was 78.76%, based on 33 reviews on May 24.

Thoughts:
I have added Red Steel 2 to the list of FPS games that I will track.  It is the only game, out of the three, that does not have any online play; but it is the only one, that is a direct sequel to another Wii game, the original Red Steel.

Speaking of direct sequels, Conduit 2 is due out later this year for the Wii.
The guys over at HDWarriors.com scored an interview with Josh Olson, the Senior Producer on the game.
They asked about the online multiplayer modes and the local multiplayer modes, in Conduit 2.

I find it interesting that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex still has fewer players reporting data, than The Conduit.  I really thought that the Call of Duty name, would have helped it pass The Conduit’s number of players reported online already.

Questions:
Have you been playing any of these games in the last four weeks?
I don’t own any of them, so I haven’t played any of them in the last four weeks.  Red Steel 2 is in my “want to play” list, as well as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
